Career

Sebastian Guțiu is the managing partner of Schoenherr și Asociații SCA and has headed Schoenherr’s firm-wide real estate practice in CEE since 2019. He was the main driver behind the development of Schoenherr Romania’s real estate and construction practice and has been involved in some of the largest real estate transactions in the local market as well as in major regional projects. He has also developed a particularly strong practice in assisting construction or infrastructure companies or beneficiaries on a variety of legal matters, including international arbitration cases for high-value claims under construction agreements. In addition, Sebastian runs the dispute resolution practice group at Schoenherr și Asociații SCA, coordinating the work of the firm’s litigation & arbitration, insolvency & restructuring, and compliance & criminal defence teams. He is a recognised arbitration lawyer, advising on international investment arbitration, ICC arbitration and domestic arbitration in front of the Bucharest arbitration court. He is regularly invited as a speaker at events relevant to his areas of expertise.
