Anne-Marie NicolasLoyens & Loeff

The ‘very knowledgeable and responsive’ team at Loyens & Loeff delivers ‘high-quality work’ to creditors and debtors across a wide spectrum of transactional matters, from relatively commoditised corporate lending matters, through to highly bespoke distressed and restructuring scenarios. Here clients also benefit from the firm’s strong underlying regulatory offering, which is also utilised for discrete advisory matters and financial services M&A. The ‘very effective and results-driven’ Anne-Marie Nicolas is central to much of the transactional work and as well as handling a considerable volume of private equity-led acquisition finance mandates, is also noted for her restructuring/distressed financing expertise. Vassiliyan Zanev, who co-heads the overarching team alongside Nicolas, is best-known for his market-leading fund finance offering, work which he combines with a thriving securitisation practice. Of the more junior partners, Noemi Gemesi provides ‘clear and effective’ advice to issuers and underwriters on DCM and ECM work (including as it relates to green notes), and the ‘commercially minded’ Adrien Pierre has ‘deep technical knowledge of banking regulation’, and can flex this across the investment fund and securities industries.

Luxembourg > Fintech

Drawing heavily from across regulatory, finance, corporate and funds disciplines in particular, Loyens & Loeff‘s integrated multi-disciplinary offering is well-placed to handle big-ticket strategically important fintech projects. The team has developed particular strength advising on cryptocurrency and tokenisation matters, as well as in relation to handling licensing applications  for  electronic money institutions and virtual asset providers. Financial services regulatory expert Adrien Pierre is across much of the highest-profile work handled by the team, including his role alongside the corporate team for  DeutscheBörse Group on its acquisition of all outstanding shares of the Luxembourg Fintech company FundsDLT. Banking and finance lawyer Anne-Marie Nicolas co-heads the team alongside Pierre and as well as her fee-earning work is also very well-connected in the fintech ecosystem, including various trade bodies/think tanks pushing for a more security token offering (STO) friendly environment in Luxembourg.
