Career

Yann Aguila, Partner at Bredin Prat, heads the firm’s Public Law practice. He advises on all aspects of public business law and environmental law in relation to both transactional and litigation matters. He assists public sector and private companies in their relations with the French public authorities.

He lectures on public law and environmental law at Sciences Po and at the Paris Bar School.

He is also a member of the legal think-tank, the Club des Juristes, where he chairs the Environmental Law Committee.

Prior to joining Bredin Prat in 2011, Yann Aguila had been a member of the French supreme administrative court, the Conseil d’Etat, since 1990, including as a judge in the Litigation Division (2009-2011) and prior to that as Deputy Secretary-General (2001-2004) and as Commissaire du Gouvernement (independent judge giving an impartial opinion on all cases before the Conseil d’Etat) (2004-2009). He also acted as legal adviser to the President of the Republic of Senegal (1995-2001).

Yann Aguila is a graduate of the high-level civil servant training institution, the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (1990), the University of Paris 2 (DEA in philosophy of law, 1992), the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Aix-en-Provence (1986) and the University of Aix-en-Provence (Maîtrise in law, 1985).

Bredin Prat est pourvu d’une équipe affichant une « parfaite connaissance du droit administratif » et qui opère en étroite collaboration avec le département corporate du cabinet pour traiter les aspects réglementaires et de droit public attachés à de grandes opérations de fusions-acquisitions, notamment dans le secteur des médias. L’équipe affiche aussi une forte expertise en matière d’autorisation d’investissements étrangers et en contentieux administratif – elle est intervenue dans plusieurs affaires ayant fait jurisprudence. Enfin, l’équipe est de plus en plus sollicitée pour traiter des problématiques réglementaires et de contrats publics concernant de grands projets d’infrastructures publiques (notamment dans le secteur des transports), à travers  Gabrielle Reddé.
