For over 15 years he’s been a local legal adviser to the Business Software Alliance, an international organization of leading software producers, which he assists in its efforts to improve the enforcement of software copyright.

Career

Mikołaj Sowiński has worked with SK&S since 1996 and became partner in 2007. He specializes in intellectual property law and IT law; he is particularly interested in all legal aspects related to software, both with regard to the enforcement of IP rights by software producers but also in relation to IT outsourcing projects and licensing issues. For over 15 years he’s been a local legal adviser to the Business Software Alliance, an international organization of leading software producers, which he assists in its efforts to improve the enforcement of software copyright. Mikołaj Sowiński also acts as an expert for the Polish IT and Telecommunications Chamber, and he is an arbitrator of the Copyright Commission appointed by the Minister for Culture and National Heritage. He sits on the board of EuroITCounsel, an international group of law firms which specialize in IT law. Mikołaj Sowiński advises not only companies operating in the IT and creative sector, but for many years has provided legal advisory for entities in the FMCG sector.

Education

He received his Master’s degree in law from the Adam Mickiewicz University Law School in Poznań in 1996. He also completed the Post-Graduate Course in International Trade and Business Law, International Commercial Arbitration and the Law of the European Union at Asser Institute in The Hague in 1997. In 2002 he was admitted to the bar.
