Team Services

When it comes to renewable energy solicitors and infrastructure law, you need not look any further than Shoosmiths. With over 30 years’ experience in this sector working on different projects, we have the in-depth knowledge you are looking for.
With Shoosmiths, a point of distinction is our collaborative working style and client-centred approach. Our team not only commands decades of experience across most sub-sectors, but it also brings an enthusiasm to explore and develop our business with our clients and related professionals on many of the emerging, innovative, challenging and rewarding parts of this diverse sector.

Our wide breadth of experience includes:

Renewables
We have extensive experience in advising developers, landowners, investors and funders on the development, acquisition, disposal and financing of renewable energy projects. This includes advice on onshore wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), hydro and anaerobic digestion.

Our renewable energy solicitors advise on all aspects of these transactions, including:

Planning and site acquisition
Drafting and negotiation of the construction and operational documents, including the power purchase agreements
Securing and finalising the financing for the transaction – whether debt or equity
At Shoosmiths, we also provide full regulatory and other day-to-day support for operational projects.

Waste to energy
Our lead lawyers have advised developers, funders and waste suppliers of many of the UK’s major waste infrastructure projects over the last 15 years. As experts, they have also worked on a number of overseas waste projects. In addition to our significant waste Public Private Partnership (PPP) experience, we have also advised on energy from waste facilities, including mass incineration, gasification and anaerobic digestion plants.

Transport
Our transportation law team has expertise built on many years of involvement with the transport industry, as well as a clear understanding of how the various parts of a transport system work together. We are able to provide sector specific expertise in public transport – on land or in the air. At Shoosmiths, we are equally at home in finding solutions for clients where projects raise new issues for their industry.

Urban & social infrastructure
When it comes to infrastructure law, our excellent team has wide-ranging expertise in a variety of areas including regeneration, smart tech, housing, schools and healthcare.
