It allows the holder to leave and re-enter Taiwan multiple times within a validity period of 1 to 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>The qualifications and tax incentives for the EGC are the same as those for the SPWP. The main difference between the EGC and SPWP lies in the work permit and maximum duration. The EGC includes an individual work permit, which allows the holder to work freely in Taiwan for any employer, whereas the SPWP is employer-specific and restricts the holder to work only for the designated employer. \u00a0As explained above, the validity period of SPWP is up to 5 years, whereas that for an EGC is up to only 3 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Investment ARC\/<\/strong><strong>Alien Permanent Resident Certificate (&#8220;APRC&#8221;)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 0\">\n<li>Having invested more than NT$15,000,000 in a profit-seeking enterprise, and having created 5 or more job opportunities for Taiwan nationals for over 3 years: eligible to apply for an APRC in Taiwan.<\/li>\n<li>Having invested more than NT$30,000,000 in Central Government Bonds for 3 years or more: eligible to apply for an APRC in Taiwan.<\/li>\n<li>Establishing a company in Taiwan with paid-in capital of US$200,000 or more and acting as the representative of the company: eligible to apply for an Investment ARC in Taiwan. SPWP\/EGC holder who have resided for 3 consecutive years with an average annual residence of 183 days or more can apply for the APRC directly.<\/p>\n<p><u>Taiwanese citizenship<\/u><\/p>\n<p>The Taiwanese passport can be applied for after uninterrupted 6 years of residency. The applicant must have legally and continuously resided in Taiwan for 5 years, staying more than 183 days each year. After renouncing their original nationality, obtaining the Taiwan Resident Certificate, and residing in Taiwan continuously for one full year without leaving the country, the applicant may apply for a Taiwan ID card and passport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"question-block filter-container__element\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"filter-container__match-html\">What productive type activities can a business visitor undertake and for how long?<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<button id=\"show-me\">+<\/button>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"question_answer filter-container__match-html\" style=\"display:none;\"><p>Foreign nationals may engage in the following activities as business visitors. The duration of their stay will depend on their visa exemption period or the type of visa they hold.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 0\">\n<li>Conducting business inspections, attending work adjustment meetings, participating in business negotiations, and establishing business offices.<\/li>\n<li>Developing markets, signing business contracts, and participating in related business tenders and bids.<\/li>\n<li>Inspecting project progress, attending quality control review meetings, and supervising construction quality control and technical equipment inspections.<\/li>\n<li>Participating in business exhibitions, site visits, seminars, or other meetings, as well as assisting with venue setup, booth construction, and related services. However, if the foreign nationals perform these tasks solely for a specific individual or legal entity within Taiwan, they must obtain permission from the Ministry of Labor.<\/li>\n<li>Showcasing products, marketing, and endorsing products or events. This does not include selling products directly to customers or promoting products to customers in a sales capacity.<\/li>\n<li>Acting as foreign shareholders or directors in accordance with the Company Act, or conducting business activities or representing the company in the capacity of a shareholder or director. However, if the foreign nationals are employed by the company to perform duties other than the aforementioned roles in Taiwan, they must still obtain permission from the Ministry of Labor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"question-block filter-container__element\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"filter-container__match-html\">Can remote work be carried out from your country?<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<button id=\"show-me\">+<\/button>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"question_answer filter-container__match-html\" style=\"display:none;\"><p>Generally, remote working from Taiwan without a work permit is allowed, provided that the following conditions are met:<\/p>\n<p>The individual is working for an overseas company while in Taiwan;<\/p>\n<p>The overseas company for which the individual is working is not related to any entity in Taiwan and the work has nothing to do with any entity in Taiwan; and<\/p>\n<p>The individual does not meet with or provide services to any clients in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"question-block filter-container__element\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"filter-container__match-html\">Are there any productive work \/ revenue generating activities that can be carried out as a visitor and without the need for a work permit? If so, what activities and for how long?<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<button id=\"show-me\">+<\/button>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"question_answer filter-container__match-html\" style=\"display:none;\"><p>According to Article 51 of the Employment Services Act, if a multinational company signs a work-for-hire contract, a procurement contract, or a technical collaboration contract (&#8220;Contract&#8221;) with a Taiwan company that requires dispatching multinational company personnel (&#8220;Expatriates&#8221;) to the Taiwan company to fulfill the obligations under that Contract, the Taiwan company may apply for a work permit for the Expatriates (i.e., a work permit for the type of &#8220;performance of contract&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, according to Article 5 of the Regulations on the Permission and Administration of the Employment of Foreign Workers, if Expatriates stay and work under the model of &#8220;performance of contract&#8221; at the Taiwan company for less than 30 days, they are not required to apply for a work permit as their visa exemption or visitor visa (for business purposes) will be considered valid for work permit purposes.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, it would be permissible to have the Expatriates leave Taiwan before the expiration of the 30-day duration and then re-enter and stay in Taiwan for another 30-day duration. Currently, there is no statutory limit on the number of times the Expatriates are allowed to do so.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"question-block filter-container__element\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"filter-container__match-html\">Is there a remote work or nomad visa category in your jurisdiction? If not, how likely is it that this will be implemented in future?<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<button id=\"show-me\">+<\/button>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"question_answer filter-container__match-html\" style=\"display:none;\"><p>Effective from January 1, 2025, the National Development Council (NDC) promulgated the &#8220;Directions on Reviewing the Eligibility of Foreign Nationals to Apply for the Digital Nomad Visa.&#8221;\u00a0 Foreign nationals who engage in remote work digitally and do not provide services to business entities or employers within Taiwan may apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (&#8220;MOFA&#8221;) or its overseas representative offices (TECO) for a Digital Nomad Visa. This visa is valid for 3 months and allows for multiple entries, with a stay period of 3 months and no restrictions on extension, provided that they meet certain conditions. If an applicant wishes to remain in Taiwan after the expiration of the nomad visa, they may apply for an extension with the NIA before the current permissible stay period ends. Extensions can be processed without leaving the country, with a maximum total stay period of 6 months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"question-block filter-container__element\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"filter-container__match-html\">How easy is it to switch visa categories\/jobs\/employer from within country? And\/or if made redundant, can the individual regularise their stay in another capacity and what is the timeframe allowable?<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<button id=\"show-me\">+<\/button>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"question_answer filter-container__match-html\" style=\"display:none;\"><p>If the individual has found a new job in Taiwan, the new employer must file the work permit application for the individual. During the processing time of the new work permit, the individual can apply for a temporary ARC with the NIA for a duration of 6 months.
