You can join a specialist team that is extremely busy and be expected to do tasks without understanding how they fit into the bigger picture\u2019, \u2018IT is not always fixed quickly\u2019, \u2018certain partners could be better supervisors\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>What has been the best moment of your training?\u00a0<\/strong>\u2018Getting the opportunity to lead on a workstream during a large transaction with sustainable elements\u2019, \u2018being involved in bringing the first consumer collective class action against a major international e-retailer that the firm has launched\u2019, \u2018getting to know others on my scheme and building a network of people in a similar situation\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>What has been the most challenging moment of your training?\u00a0<\/strong>\u2018The hours in transactional seats can be very long, as long as at US and MC firms\u2019, \u2018the adjustment from an SQE\/law student to trainee\u2019, \u2018I had not studied anything related to my first seat, so trying to learn an entirely new area of law, whilst still supporting the team and providing work to the best of my ability\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p>\n                \n               \n      <h2 class=\"tab-listing\" id=\"verdict\">The Lex 100 verdict on <span class=\"highlight-firm\">Stephenson Harwood<\/span><\/h2>\n       \n        \n      \n             \n        <p>    \n\t<p>Stephenson Harwood recruits had been drawn in by the firm\u2019s \u2018<em>Legal 500<\/em> Tier 1 ship finance practice\u2019, \u2018strong reputation in litigation\u2019 and \u2018truly international\u2019 outlook, as well as a \u2018good balance of contentious and non-contentious seats\u2019. The smaller intake is another major selling point, with trainees praising the \u2018personable approach\u2019 and the fact that \u2018partners are supervising juniors directly\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Several respondents mentioned positive interactions with the firm before joining, from campus events to the interview process, where they found staff \u2018approachable\u2019, \u2018friendly\u2019 and \u2018willing to help\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Once inside Stephenson Harwood, \u2018the people\u2019 remain the standout feature. Colleagues are described as \u2018friendly, supportive and sociable\u2019, while partner contact and mentorship are valued across the firm. The international firm also offers serious work early on: trainees cited \u2018leading a workstream\u2019 on a large transaction with sustainability elements, and &#8216;helping bring a consumer collective class action against a major e-retailer&#8217; as career highlights.<\/p>\n<p>Overseas opportunities are another major plus point of training at Stephenson Harwood. One trainee who completed a secondment in the Singapore corporate team praised the exposure to \u2018international clients and the wider SH network in Asia and beyond\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to improvements, respondents would like to see more consistent seat-specific training, faster IT support, a more modern office space and more NQ roles.
