A more united and coherent approach would be appreciated\u2019, \u2018the office location&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best moment?<\/strong> \u2018Receiving great feedback from my supervisors\u2019, \u2018getting involved in a big whistleblowing investigation matter and working with counsel\u2019, \u2018attending a conference with Counsel and Experts in London at Chambers on a case which was progressing to trial in the high court\u2019, \u2018completing my first acquisition\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Worst moment?<\/strong> \u2018Messing up on some work and feeling like I&#8217;d disappointed the fee-earner\u2019, \u2018feeling overwhelmed in busy seats and unsure how to prioritise\/complete work in the right way\/order\u2019, \u2018being asked to a complicated historical WIP review\u2019, \u2018there was a point where I had so little work to do and was really bored in the office\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p>\n                \n               \n      <h2 class=\"tab-listing\" id=\"verdict\">The Lex 100 verdict on <span class=\"highlight-firm\">Michelmores<\/span><\/h2>\n       \n        \n      \n             \n        <p>    \n\t<p>Michelmores attracts trainees from the get-go. As one put it, \u201cfollowing my vacation scheme, it offered the culture and work-life balance I was looking for.\u201d Others echo this, citing the firm\u2019s \u201clocation, quality of work and work-life balance\u201d alongside its \u201cprogressive nature\u201d and \u201creputation, culture, and practice areas.\u201d Trainees value the fact that it offers \u201cgood work-life balance, but still access to high-quality commercial work\u201d \u2014 combining City-calibre matters with the lifestyle benefits of being based in the South West. The training is described as \u201cmuch better in terms of exposure to clients, being given responsibility and leadership on matters\u201d compared to peers at other firms. Support is a recurring theme, with one trainee noting \u201cgreat and well supported training\u2026 trainees are well supported by supervisors and more widely in the firm.\u201d Others highlight \u201creally good supervision and client exposure,\u201d though they acknowledge that \u201cseats can vary in intensity.\u201d When asked about the best thing at Michelmores, the answer is almost unanimous: \u201cthe people.\u201d Trainees also praise the access to \u201camazing client work and client contact whilst being located in the South West.&#8221; On the flip side, trainees mention practical downsides such as \u201ca lot of the seats being available only in Exeter and the associated travel\/cost.\u201d Others note that \u201capproaches between teams to trainee supervision can be mixed\u201d and that they would like a stronger London presence, though the office there is expanding.
