We sent The Legal 500 Future Lawyers Pupil and Junior Barrister survey to pupils and juniors up to two years in tenancy at 42BR Barristers. Here is what they had to say:

Why did you choose these chambers over any others?

‘Reputation’, ‘they offered a range of work that reflected my interests; the pupillage award was generous; the interviewers were lovely at interview; they seemed to take an interest in me as a person’, ‘friendly, collegiate, inclusive, supportive, good clients, good quality work, keep me busy but respect my work/life balance’

How does your training compare with what you hear from pupils/juniors at other chambers?

‘Excellent’, ‘I feel like I’ve been very very fortunate in my experience. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at 42BR, other members of chambers (no matter how senior) are always willing to provide additional support or go out of their way to answer questions’

Best thing about chambers?

‘Flexibility and inclusivity’, ‘the people – the barristers, clerks and staff are all a pleasure to work with. ‘the culture’

Worst thing about chambers?

‘The building itself is rather Victorian….gets a bit draughty in winter!’

Best moment to date?

‘Being a junior to a KC’, ‘my current supervisor has been fabulous, I never felt any question was too silly to ask her and she gave prompt and helpful feedback’, ‘the support and opportunity to get involved in business development and grow my practice’

Worst moment to date?

‘Being nervous about getting tenancy’
