Georgina is registered with the Bar Council to undertake Public Access work, and is able to receive instructions directly from lay clients, as well as those on the traditional professional client basis. She has a strong analytical approach and thorough attention to detail. She is regarded as being approachable, open-minded and sensitive with clients and witnesses, and is known for her tenacious advocacy and effective cross examination. Notable cases include: Kozlowska v Thurloe (t/a Judi Thurloe Sports Horses) [2012] EWCA Civ 236 (a successful appeal on behalf of a defendant livery yard owner in a claim by a former employee arising from a horse riding accident. Had judgment set aside because of the trial judge’s failure to give adequate reasons for his decision and successfully defended the claim at the re-trial).


Called 2007; appointed to the Attorney General’s Regional Panel of Counsel to the Crown 2012; prior to coming to the Bar, she worked for the Legal Services Commission, before travelling extensively and teaching English in Russia and China. She returned to the UK to manage a four-star hotel in Central London.

Georgina Cursham specialises in inquests arising from deaths in custody and represented a family in an inquest into the death of an elderly man who died suddenly of undiagnosed sepsis. Thomas Herbert is ‘always on top of evidence’ and handled a three-week inquest into the death of a 19-month-old girl who was murdered by her mother. Edward James recently acted for a family in a five-day jury inquest involving residential gas explosion after a leak was not detected by a gas engineer.
