Gary is a practising Barrister and Mediator. Gary specialises in Personal Injury and Commercial Litigation. Before he became a barrister, Gary spent many years employed as a Quantity Surveyor in heavy industry. His practice is predominantly in the North of England but he regularly and happily travels extensively.

Gary is a Public Access Barrister and accepts instructions directly from the public and from corporate bodies. In addition, Gary is one of the few barristers that has an extension to his Practising Certificate so that he can conduct litigation. He is content to undertake all manner of claims ranging from very modest and uncomplicated cases to very high value and extremely complicated cases. Gary is regularly instructed in both fast track and multi-track cases, and appears in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.

Gary’s principal area of practice is Personal Injury and he specialises in the areas set out above with a particular interest in employer’s liability, industrial disease together with clinical negligence. He regularly lectures and provides training in relation to all aspects of clinical negligence and industrial disease with a particular emphasis on WRULD, VWF, NIHL and respiratory diseases. Gary accepts instructions in respect of relatively modest and simple claims to very high value and complicated personal injury matters.

Gary worked for many years as a Quantity Surveyor in heavy industry. After Gary qualified as a lawyer he initially worked for an international construction and building industry as well as representation in all forms of ADR. As part of his practice he undertakes all forms of written work (pleadings, Advices etc). Gary appears as an advocate in Court and also in all ADR forums (arbitration and mediation etc). Gary is also CEDR accredited Mediator.

Gary regularly provides specialist advice to construction/ building companies, Local Authorities, professionals and also private individuals in relation to Commercial Litigation with a particular emphasis on construction and building disputes. Gary undertakes all aspects of paperwork (advising and drafting etc) and provides representation in the Commercial Court, TCC and all ADR forums.

As a consequence of his former employment as a Quantity Surveyor, Gary is very well placed to provide incisive and highly effective advice. He delivers sound legal and technical advice leading to cost effective, commercially sensible and practical solutions.
