Areas of Practice

Mr Bramhall joined Chambers in September 2020 after successfully completing pupillage under the supervision of Mr Fraser Lindsay. During pupillage, Mr Bramhall was exposed to all areas of common law. Prior to joining Chambers, Mr Bramhall volunteered for various non-profit organisations.

 

Crime

Mr Bramhall accepts instructions in all areas of criminal law and enjoys a busy practice. Mr Bramhall regularly prosecutes and defends in a wide range of matters in the Magistrates’ and Crown Court. Recent cases involve firearms, drugs, assault and sexual offences. Mr Bramhall has experience as disclosure junior in complex cases involving voluminous material and ensures that written paperwork is completed in a timely manner.

 

Mr Bramhall is a Level 2 CPS Panel Advocate.

Notable Cases

Prosecution:

 

R v P (2022): Trial resulting in a conviction of an individual who had perpetrated domestic abuse against his previous partner, subsequently sentenced to 3 years’ custody.

 

R v H (2022): Prosecuted an individual convicted under the Terrorism Act for possession of prohibited articles in custody.

 

R v W (2021): Successfully prosecuted a case involving child abduction, for which the Defendant received a 4 year custodial sentence.

 

Defence:

 

R v H (2022): Suspended sentence of 12 months’ custody in a case involving production of indecent videos of a minor; starting point as per Sentencing Guidelines 6 years.

 

R v J (2022): Acquittal of witness intimidation after trial.

 

R v K (2022): Acquittal of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.

 

R v B (2021): Acquittal after trial in a case involving an allegation of a controlling and coercive behaviour.

 

R v C (2021): Acquittal of a Defendant that was tried in his absence.

 

S v R (2021): Successfully appealed against a sentence of immediate imprisonment following an affray, sentence subsequently suspended.

 

R v C (2021): Acquittal of s.20 after trial involving an alleged fight in a nightclub.

 

R v D (2021): 27 months’ imprisonment for possession with intent to supply class A drugs; starting point as per Sentencing Guidelines 4.5 years.
