Serious Crime including Serious Fraud
Adam Davis QC has been involved in high profile cases throughout his career representing defendants such as Matthew Simmons in the “Eric Cantona” case, Wayne Lineker and the Croydon Riot Furniture Fire Case and prosecuting a £10m eBay counterfeit golf club case.
Since his appointment as a QC in 2012, he has successfully defended in a number of Murder cases including the 2011 New Year’s Eve Hatton Garden shooting at the CCC, a stabbing on a Romford Shopping Centre and 10 defendant street execution in Preston.
The most significant murder trial involved the successful defence of Clayton Williams, who was charged with the Murder of the Wirral Police Officer, PC David Philips, a case that attracted national press and TV coverage. The trial was presided over by Mr Justice William Davis, who said that he conducted the case “with skill and expertise” and had “done everything he possibly could” to present his client’s case. In the televised Court of Appeal case in March 2017, the President of the QBD, Sir Brian Leveson, said the following:
“Mr Davis I would not want the appellant to misunderstand the position. You took every point that could be taken. I commented maybe on a couple that could not be, but every point that could be taken was advanced. He can have no complaint at the skilful way in which he has been represented.”
Recently, he successfully defended Andrew Clarke, who was charged under the terrorist legislation with being a member of the extreme right-wing organisation, National Action.
Having been well-established as a fraud specialist before becoming a QC, he has continued to be instructed in large-scale fraud and money laundering offences including a £5.4m fraud on the Welsh Assembly, a £192m money laundering (Operation Prelacy) and £500m VAT fraud (Operation Forbear).
He has appeared as an advocate in front of the British Boxing Board of Control on licensing matters, the Football League tribunal on transfer irregularities and other regulatory bodies and regularly advises Professional Athletes including current PGA European Tour Golfers and Sports Management companies. He was a Registered Lawyer with the Football Association. He has also appeared in an FA Rule K Arbitration representing an FA Licensed Agent.
He is an accredited lecturer on the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Confiscation and Money Laundering) lecturing to solicitors and barristers, accountants and financial institutions. He advises companies on Money Laundering matters. He continues to act as Chairman of the Pro Touch SA and Camden Elite, community-based football organisations. He is a Non-Executive Director of Places For People PLC one of the largest residential property development, management and regeneration companies in the UK and a Board Member of a London religious organisation and a Trustee of the Hadley Wood Sports Trust, a new sports complex in the London Borough of Barnet.
