Position

Talented and popular practitioner. Known for his ability to provide swift and valuable advice within very tight deadlines and renowned for his cross-examination skills in court. Instructed throughout the country in general personal injury and industrial disease cases both for claimants and defendants. Leading personal injury junior in the South West and Wales, but his practice takes him to courts all over the country; acts primarily for defendants, via their insurers, but also does some claimant work. Principal fields of practice are employers liability, industrial disease, especially asbestos-related litigation, VWF, RSI and noise cases, stress/bullying claims in the workplace, road traffic accidents and public liability, especially involving occupiers. In addition he undertakes work in the fields of insurance, especially fraudulent claims, and clinical negligence as well as health and safety prosecution/defence. Reputation as a tough cross-examiner; has appeared in the Court of Appeal, the Queen’s Bench Division and extensively in county courts all across the country. Recommended in the field of personal injury litigation by ‘The Legal 500’ from 1999 to date: ‘he fights tooth and nail’. Recommended in ‘Chambers & Partners’ from 2002 to date. Personal injury: employers liability, industrial disease, including asbestos-related litigation, VWF, RSI, noise, stress and bullying in the workplace, road traffic, accidents, public liability, especially occupiers, serious head injuries, chronic pain syndrome and abnormal illness behaviour, fraudulent claims, limitation, psychiatric damage, especially post traumatic stress disorder. Insurance: interpretation of insurance contracts, fraudulent claims, property damage, especially involving fire, misrepresentation and non-disclosure and exclusion clauses. Employment: unfair dismissal, especially misconduct, sex discrimination, in particular sexual harassment, disability discrimination, whistle-blowers, directors duties.
