Practises on the western circuit exclusively in clinical negligence, inquests and personal injury cases, as well as sitting part-time as a coroner and as a legal assessor in disciplinary proceedings. Practice is predominantly clinical negligence. Recent cases involve birth injuries to mother and child, cardiac/vascular surgery, anaesthetic mismanagement, maladministration of drugs, late diagnosis of cancers, claims against GPs and psychiatric claims arising out of fatalities in a clinical setting. Appointment as junior counsel to the Crown (Attorney General’s civil list) has led to extensive work for both the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office concerning healthcare issues arising out of treatment of service personnel and prisoners. Also a door tenant at Outer Temple Chambers (Chambers of Michael Bowes QC, David Westcott QC and Andrew Spink QC) in London (020 7353 6381).


Called 1991, Middle Temple; junior counsel to the Crown: Attorney General’s civil list regional panel, appointed November 2007, London panel appointed January 2001, reappointed May 2004; assistant deputy coroner for Warwickshire, appointed March 2008; standing counsel to Ministry of Defence Police for their professional standards department, appointed December 2006; DPP specialist counsel for advising CPS on death in custody cases, appointed April 2004.
