Position

Nicholas has appeared in many of the major public inquiries of the last two decades including, most recently, the current Undercover Policing lnquiry and the lndependent Jersey Care lnquiry (2015-16) as well as the Rosemary Nelson lnquiry and the Bloody Sunday lnquiry. He provides advice and advocacy in inquests and public law matters, often where there is a connection with a criminal law issue. He advises widely in the field of corporate and financial crime, appearing in significant cases such as the phone hacking trial. He undertakes internal investigations for institutions concerned about irregular activity and provides specialist advice to state bodies, corporates and others on the operation of laws governing surveillance and related activities. He heads the QEBHW Public Law Practice Group and Business and Human Rights Practice Group.
