Edward Henry QC
Edward Henry defends in serious crime (80%) and serious fraud (20%). During his career he has been instructed in over 40 murder trials, terrorism cases (lRA, Tamil Tiger and Al Qaeda inspired), grave sexual offences, complex drugs, money
laundering, firearms and people trafficking. ln 2016, he played a pivotal role in the collapse of the Royal Agricultural University “gang rape” allegation, in which his disclosure arguments caused the Crown to offer no evidence. Later that year, he successfully represented a client facing a murder charge and 4 counts of attempted murder. ln 2017 he appeared for the first appellant in the UKSC landmark test case (R v M) which decided the ambit of s.92, Trade Marks Act 1994, in respect of the grey market. He has a proven track record in developing procedural arguments (Abuse of Process, Disclosure and Pll) which have repeatedly stopped major prosecutions. His fraud practice includes recent advisory work in a contentious tax investigation, which helped persuade the CPS to refuse charge, and he is currently instructed, pre-charge, in an SFO investigation of huge importance. He is instructed
to defend in three heavy fraud trials at Southwark, to be tried in2017-2018, and is also instructed, in 2018, to defend a high profile celebrity in relation to historic Operation Yew Tree allegations.
