Position

Currently not available to receive instructions.

Louise Hill has specialised exclusively in family law for over 15 years, both in private and public law proceedings. She undertakes work for parents, local authorities, children, grandparents and other connected persons, and accepts instructions in all tiers of court and both private and publicly funded work.

Louise conducts cases involving applications for care and supervision orders; contact with children in care; discharge proceedings; placement and adoption orders; and special guardianship orders. She has a particular interest in cases involving an educational element, and has conducted cases involving the designation of a responsible local authority.

She has considerable experience in dealing with all aspects of child abuse and neglect, including physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and has dealt with cases involving fabricated illness. She also has experience of unusual child abuse cases, such as ritual abuse. She has undertaken cases involving an international element, for example placing a child outside the jurisdiction within care proceedings. She has particular experience in conducting finding-of-fact hearings, often involving complex and technical medical matters as to causation and perpetrator. She has experience in dealing with many aspects of physical abuse, including fractures, serious head injuries, bruising and scalds.

A number of Louise’s clients have either a learning disability or mental health problems and she is familiar with community care assessments and how these can link with children’s proceedings.

Louise has considerable experience of complex family conflicts within residence and contact cases. She has conducted cases involving specific issue orders, domestic abuse cases and cases involving applications to remove children from the jurisdiction.

Louise Hill has over 20 years’ experience at the Bar, mainly in family law. Having specialised exclusively in children’s cases in the last 5 years, Louise has recently returned to this area of practice.

Following 20 years’ experience in practice, Louise Hill has undertaken training in the protection of vulnerable adults and is keen to develop further in this area.

Through her work involving vulnerable adults within children’s proceedings, she has knowledge of Community Care Act assessments.
