Position

Christopher Ferguson has specialised in family law for several years. His extensive experience in private and public children’s law includes representing parents, extended family members, local authorities and children via guardians, including the Official Solicitor and the National Youth Advocacy Service.

Although known as a tenacious opponent, Christopher has also built a reputation for his approachable, caring and sensitive manner, repeatedly noted by solicitors with particularly vulnerable or sensitive clients. He has been described by Chambers & Partners as ‘a safe pair of hands’.

Christopher has organised and spoken at seminars on subjects such as contact, shared residence, domestic violence, the judicial interviewing of children, McKenzie friends, kinship care and the role of grandparents as alternative carers or in proceedings generally.

Christopher Ferguson has specialised in family law for several years, also practising in criminal law (as another branch particularly related to people) until the late 1990s; since then, he has chosen to specialise exclusively in family law.

His substantial experience in financial remedy work has extended across a broad range of clients, from the socially disadvantaged to property speculators and the popular/rock music industry.

Although known as a tenacious opponent, he has also built a reputation for his good ‘bedside manner’, repeatedly noted by solicitors with particularly vulnerable or sensitive clients.

Christopher has spoken at a number of seminars, including at a Sovereign Chambers seminar on financial remedies, when he spoke about the remedies available under Section 15 and Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989.
