Elspeth has a varied commercial chancery practice and an extremely loyal client base. She is an acknowledged specialist in international trust and estates disputes, and in partnership, company, insolvency and other business based disputes. Clients comment particularly on her responsiveness, her thoroughness and her meticulous eye for detail, particularly well-used in cross examination. She is respected by judges and clients alike for her clear and robust advocacy in court and she is applauded by clients worldwide, whose confidence she wins with her clear, practical, straight forward and reliably solid analysis of issues and their solutions. She has recently dealt with a partnership dispute over the ownership of intellectual property in hedge fund software, a claim for gross negligence by trustees in investing trust funds in speculative trading ventures, a number of trusts whose liabilities exceed the value of their assets, a claim in negligence against a pension trustee, matrimonial proceedings in which an attack on a trust is made, and a fund’s claim against its former directors and advisors in connection with the fund’s investments.
