33 Bedford Row was established in 1986 and has a long history as a common law set. It was one of the first sets to move out of the Inns of Court to Bedford Row where it has been practising since the 1990s. In 2013, members of three well-known high-profile sets, existing 33 Bedford Row, Old Bailey Chambers and Renaissance Chambers, formed to create the present 33 Bedford Row, each bringing their own areas of established expertise. By judicious expansion it has rapidly grown to become a leading common law set consisting of more than 70 members offering outstanding advice and advocacy in criminal, civil, regulatory, family and public law including immigration, at all levels.

The set: Chambers places a premium on being accessible, commercially aware and service-oriented. Chambers includes high-profile King’s Counsel who undertake work in criminal, local authority, family, public and international law. It can also count among its members exceptional juniors, each of whom is committed to achieving the best possible outcome in each case. Clients can expect outstanding administration and clerking support as part of chambers’ commitment to client care.

Members of chambers are advocates of choice for multiple local authorities, government departments, Parliamentary inquiries, businesses, private individuals and for solicitors throughout England and Wales. Members have appeared in court throughout the country at all levels up to and including the Supreme Court and have acted on behalf of the Attorney General, Serious Fraud Office, Financial Conduct Authority and the Official Solicitor. Members regularly appear in a full range of tax and VAT tribunals. It is increasingly known for the range of international instructions that its members attract.

Types of work undertaken: Members of chambers undertake a wide variety of common law work. The emphasis in all areas is on sound, solution-oriented advice and specialist advocacy.

The civil and commercial team provides expertise in commercial disputes; intellectual property; landlord and tenant; professional negligence; insolvency; personal injury, including industrial injury; insurance and reinsurance; employment law; inquests; and inquiries, including Parliamentary inquiries.

The experienced criminal team practice includes serious violence; sexual offences; organised crime; fraud and asset recovery. It has also acted on the largest ever local authority complex fraud trial.

The family team has specialists in the full range of work including family finance; public and private law; human fertilisation and embryology; elder care and mental health including work in the Court of Protection.
