Mr Sailesh Mehta
Sailesh has defended and prosecuted in some of the most serious, complex and law-defining cases in the last 25 years. Law Directories have cited him as “a real heavyweight”, “a charismatic advocate” and “a leader in his field”.
Sailesh’s areas of practice include serious crime (murder, kidnap, people smuggling); large-scale fraud and corruption; regulatory (health & safety, environmental and fire); terrorism (his recent case is the authority for sentencing terrorism cases). His cases frequently attract media attention.
He routinely advises large companies, their directors and regulatory authorities at national level, often when there have been fatalities or major pollution incidents. He has prosecuted a number of the largest companies in Europe (Thames Water, Siemens, Balfour Beatty, Biffa) in relation to environmental and health & safety offences. He has recently clarified and defined the law relating to international pollution. His pro-bono work includes representation for the HS2 Protestors.
