Faye is a determined advocate with an eye for detail. She has a busy practice across the range of Chambers’ practice areas.
Before to coming to the Bar, Faye worked as a paralegal at private criminal defence firm Hickman and Rose, where she deployed the specialist knowledge gained through her science degree and work in the pharmaceutical sector to help build the defence case for a pharmaceutical company under investigation for corporate manslaughter.
During pupillage at another top-tier set of chambers Faye assisted supervisors with complex prosecution workloads, working on cases involving sophisticated thefts and burglaries from jewellery stores; a health and safety prosecution following the death of an employee by electrocution, and the racially-aggravated harassment of an MP. For the defence Faye worked on cases of historic sexual offending, murder, and was instructed as disclosure junior in a 2-week money-laundering trial.
As an advocate in her own right, Faye is tenacious and prides herself on the client care she provides. Significant achievements have included persuading the court to impose suspended periods of imprisonment in the face of mandatory minimum sentences and repeat offending; a client who received a £230 fine after pleading guilty to a £11k benefit fraud; and substantially reducing the draconian terms of a civil injunction imposed against an 18-year old gang member over a 2-day hearing. In addition to her criminal practice, Faye has deployed her biomedical experience in a number of serious cases before the Nursing and Midwifery Council; a 7-day hearing involving charges of dishonesty around the death of a very vulnerable patient, and another other in which life-altering injuries were caused through a mechanism that was heavily-debated by three clinical experts over 13 days.
