Position

Sam is regularly instructed to prosecute and defend in Crime, Business Crime & Fraud and Regulatory & Professional Disciplinary  cases.

In the Crown Court, Sam has a busy practice prosecuting and defending in cases across the criminal spectrum. He regularly acts for the Insolvency Service and was junior prosecution counsel in the trial of former professional tennis player Boris Becker. His defence practice spans fraud, drugs and violent offences.

In Professional Discipline, Sam has a wealth of experience representing regulators, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the Health and Care Professions Council, the General Optical Council and the General Dental Council.

Alongside his court practice, Sam advises on a wide variety of criminal and regulatory issues. He is experienced in disclosure and is currently instructed as disclosure counsel in two large-scale fraud investigations by the National Crime Agency. He has also worked on internal investigations whilst on secondment at Kingsley Napley LLP.

Sam has built a reputation for being well-prepared, thorough, and easy to work with.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Sam held a number of roles in a FTSE top ten company and worked in the UK, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia, Romania and Mauritius. He volunteered at the Mississippi Office of Capital Post-Conviction Counsel assisting on death row appeals. He also spent a year as a paralegal and was part of the team that advised the former CEO of Cambridge Analytica in the Facebook data breach scandal.
