Position

Barrister specialising in construction and engineering domestic litigation and international arbitration, professional negligence and other related fields of practice. Samuel Townend specialises in offshore and onshore construction, infrastructure, engineering, PFI, and energy disputes along with professional negligence and insurance claims related to these sectors. He regularly acts for clients in the Courts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and he has a thriving practice in international and domestic arbitration (most recently acting in two arbitrations in Australia), along with all forms of alternative dispute resolution. Samuel is frequently instructed in arbitration proceedings and related appeals, and has experience of proceeding under a variety of Rules, including ICC, UNCITRAL, LCIA and ad hoc procedures. Samuel is standing counsel for the National House Building Council. Samuel has considerable expertise in adjudication work, from initial advice, drafting submissions and representation in front of adjudicators, to enforcement proceedings in the TCC.
