Position

Tara has built a thriving practice in family and civil law, with particular expertise in inheritance, family finance and employment law. She represents a range of litigants from large multi-national companies to individuals and is instructed to appear in courts and tribunals at all levels up to and including the Court of Appeal. Tara is described by her clients as having ‘a sharp legal mind’ and being ‘extremely capable on her feet’. She is known for her sensitive and friendly representation of clients which she combines with a robust and pragmatic approach to the case. Tara regularly receives instructions in claims concerning the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, contentious probate matters, disputes about validity of wills and administration issues. Tara appears in the Court of Protection in cases concerning its property and affairs jurisdiction and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Tara has significant experience for her call in matrimonial finance and cases concerning financial provision for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989 both at first instance and on appeal. She is regularly instructed to deal with complex disputes including cases concerning business interests and pensions, third-party interveners and overseas assets. Tara regularly acts in related matters such as variation of orders, applications to set aside orders, freezing injunctions and enforcement. She drafts both pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and advises on the same. Tara has developed a broad employment law practice acting for both employers and employees. She has expertise in unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, redundancy and whistleblowing claims and all kinds of discrimination claims.
