Stephen Vullo QC

Work 020 7440 8888
2 Bedford Row (Chambers of William Clegg QC)

Stephen Vullo QC has been instructed in many of the most high profile cases to have been tried in recent years. He is regularly identified as the counsel of first choice as can be seen from the list of his previous clients who include, for example, Dave Lee Travis, Yassin Omar (21st July bomber), The Glasgow Bomber and His Royal Highness Prince Saud Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi prince accused of murdering his slave in a London Hotel. He is currently instructed in an Operation Yewtree Case, a number of murders including the murder of the Syrian dissident Imam in Wembley and numerous appeals to the Court of Appeal. In January of 2015 the Court of Appeal commended his arguments before quashing three convictions for conspiracy to murder. The Court held that if the case had been presented by trial counsel as it had before them, the jury could not have convicted on the basis that they did. This case is currently the subject of complete press restrictions as it is to be retried in late 2015.

2 Bedford Rowremains at the top of the Premiership for this area of the profession, with enough stars to field three or four first teams’. Defence highlights include Stephen Vullo QC and David Patience representing disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris in his third sexual offences trial, in which he was cleared of several counts of indecent assault after the jury was unable to reach a verdict. The set includes a number of heavyweight prosecutors as well; Brian Altman QC prosecuted Khalid Mohammed Omar Ali, who was convicted of preparing terrorism acts in London having been arrested on Whitehall with three knives tucked into his clothes, in addition to the construction of bombs for the Afghan Taliban several years prior.
