Georgia is a specialist extradition practitioner who also has a substantial practice in Criminal Law.

Position

Georgia specialises in extradition law. She is recognised as a Rising Star (tier 1), in the Legal 500 and is also recognised as Up and Coming in Chambers and Partners for her work in extradition and International Crime.

Her extradition practice includes both Part 1 and Part 2 matters and involves a wide range of legal issues arising under the Extradition Act 2003 and the European Convention on Human Rights.

In addition to her extradition practice, Georgia has a busy practice in all areas of Criminal Law. She both defends and prosecutes in criminal proceedings at the Magistrates’, Youth and Crown Courts.

Extradition & International

Georgia prosecutes and defends in a wide variety of extradition matters, including both Part 1 and Part 2 cases. She is regularly instructed  in extradition hearings at all stages, from first appearances in the Magistrates’ Court to substantive appeal hearings before the High Court. Georgia has significant experience of extradition matters involving expert evidence on a variety of topics, country-wide thematic issues and complex points of law.

Georgia has completed a 10-month secondment with the CPS Extradition Unit, where she acted as a reviewing lawyer for a substantial caseload of Part 1 cases. Georgia is a Level 3 Panel Advocate for the CPS Extradition Panel. In her defence practice, Georgia’s instructions have included cases where a certificate for counsel has been granted due to the complexity or severity of the issues raised.

Georgia has experience in matters involving International Law. She has a particular academic interest in crimes falling within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and has published on this topic. Additionally, her extradition instructions have involved interpretation of international agreements, in particular the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement. She has also assisted in cases concerning applications to remove INTERPOL Red Notices and has advised in immigration matters concerning the application of European Law.

Criminal Defence

Georgia defends clients in a wide range of criminal proceedings in the Magistrates’, Youth and Crown Courts. Her diverse criminal defence practice has included cases of violence, possession and supply of drugs, offensive weapons and dishonesty. She has acted in cases involving multiple co-defendants and contested expert evidence.

Georgia has successfully represented vulnerable defendants and has also been instructed in a number of cases involving vulnerable witnesses. She has undertaken specialist Youth Justice advocacy training with the Youth Justice Legal Centre.

Criminal Prosecutions – Private & Public

Georgia is regularly instructed by the CPS to prosecute a variety of criminal offences in the Crown Court. She has also been instructed by the Metropolitan Police Service to prosecute breaches of Domestic Violence Protection Orders and by the Probation Service to prosecute breaches of Community Orders. Georgia has experience in conducting private prosecutions, including matters concerning counterfeit goods and animal cruelty.

Georgia also has experience in disclosure matters, having been instructed to undertake a disclosure review for a private prosecution.
