Michael is a specialist barrister who acts in complicated financial remedy cases and Children Act cases.  He has had a further very busy year, representing numerous clients in relation these cases.  In particular, regarding the issues of parties’ domicile, having the court clarify the law in relation to the valuation of companies and how any growth during a marriage should be treated by the Court, settling the law in relation to litigation funding from a spouse, and representing a mother in refuting allegations of parental alienation.

Prior to his call to the Bar, Michael worked in finance for five years, qualified as a commercial solicitor specialising in IP law before crossing to the family Bar in 1998. Michael practises a wide range of family work including financial remedy, trusts and cohabitation disputes and Children Act work. He specialises in cases which have an added dimension such as trusts, bankruptcy, partnerships and companies. He has many reported financial remedy cases and frequently represents parents involved in disputes including those with an international element such as relocation cases and those involving serious abuse. As a result of his experience, both prior to being called to the Bar, and whilst at it, Michael brings a breadth of experience to his work. In recognition of his talents, he was appointed QC in 2018.
