Rudi Fortson practices in cases relating to complex fraud, asset-recovery, money laundering, confiscation, drug law, and firearms. Rudi writes and lectures extensively on criminal law issues, and he is the author of ‘Misuse of Drugs and Drug Trafficking Offences’ (6th ed., 2012; Sweet & Maxwell) and ‘Serious Crime Act 2007’ (OUP). He is a contributing editor to ‘Blackstone’s Criminal Practice’ (OUP), and he writes regularly for the ‘Criminal Law Review’ (Sweet & Maxwell). He is a visiting professor of law at Queen Mary University of London. He has previously been described by the legal directories as ‘exceptional’, and a ‘staff and a rock to his clients’. He is regarded by his peers as one of the Bar’s star individuals. He offers immense knowledge and masterful presentation. He is regarded as the UK’s leading expert on UK drug law, and his work on firearms (commissioned by the Law Commission for England and Wales) has been published. His work has been cited in Parliamentary material.

He has recently been a member of a Working Group for the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), a consultant to the Law Commission for England and Wales in relation to its anti-money laundering project (2018); a consultant to the Law Commission (E&W) in respect of its firearms project.
