Geoff Payne specialises in defending heavy fraud cases. He has acted in some of the longest, highest value cases prosecuted. He is tenacious and proactive and has a strong track record in defending in some of the most complex cases dealt with by the criminal justice system. He appears in cases as leading junior and alone. Recent instructions include a multi-million pound care home fraud tried over a year, a boiler room fraud involving en primeur wine and a banking fraud in the City of London involving losses of $120 million. He appeared in one of the earliest cases of Film Tax Credit Fraud and acted in the largest ‘Ponzi Fraud’ prosecuted. He often acts for professionals including accountants and liquidators. He is highly adept in confiscation proceedings and has appellate experience.
