Work Department

Simon is an experienced and skilled barrister, practicing in the fields of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence.

Career

Simon can be trusted to help progress the most difficult of cases.  He is instructed by both Claimants and Defendants.  His work is split roughly 67/33%.

In the field of Personal Injury, Simon is instructed primarily in catastrophic injuries, traumatic brain injuries and amputation cases, together with employers’ liability claims, fatal accidents claims, and road traffic accident claims.

He was junior counsel in the first decision on fundamental dishonesty under the QoCs regime, Gosling v Screwfix.

He acted for a Claimant in the first successful employer’s liability claim arising out of a dog mauling, Camden v Jackpot Leisure.

In Xp v Compensa, Simon acted for a Claimant, injured in two road traffic accidents.  One, in Poland, involved the traumatic miscarriage at 16 weeks gestation of the Claimant’s unborn child.  Issues of Polish Law, causation, apportionment and assessment of damages for a miscarriage arose.

His clients take to Simon’s warm and engaging, but authoritive style.  He swiftly builds up the rapport of trust and confidence, with them, fundamental to a successful outcome in any case.
