Criminal law with specialisms in Financial Crime, Sexual offences and Child Abuse, Regulatory offences, and Professional Disciplinary. James prosecutes and defends in high profile, multi-handed, high value complex frauds as leading counsel, sole counsel and junior to Queen’s Counsel. He regularly appears against Queen’s Counsel. James is adept in dealing with cases involving voluminous and expert evidence.

Cases include: Operation Dinghy (multi-handed wine investment fraud), R v Cameria (Legal services fraud), Operation Radome (HMRC fraud), Operation Crystal (Access to Work fraud involving 12 deaf defendants), R v Brad (£3million Invoice finance fraud), R v Kayode (£4million Education Trust fraud believed to be ‘Britain’s largest Education Fraud’), Operation Dee (multi handed £2million bank fraud), Operation Glider (multi handed Gift Aid fraud), Operation Evergreen (Insider NHS fraud).

James is knowledgeable and experienced with restraint and confiscation proceedings. He appeared in the Court of Appeal case of R v R [2013] EWCA 1105 (restraint variations).

Called 2001 (Gray’s Inn). SFO Grade A prosecutor, Grade 4 CPS prosecutor. Grade 3 CPS specialist Fraud prosecutor. Appointed to prosecute rape and serious sexual offences. Appointed to Regulatory list (Health and Safety and Environmental Law). Senior in Hall at Gray’s Inn.  Approved for Direct Access.
