Position

Eleanor practises in regulatory crime, financial services and commercial law with a focus on fraud, bribery and corruption, money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions work.

Eleanor has particular expertise in cross border criminal and regulatory investigations, including matters under the Crime  (International Co-operation) Act 2003. She advises financial institutions, law firms and individuals.

Recent cases include: the Barclays Qatar investigation, the global Libor investigation and the Forex investigation and advising the Financial Conduct Authority in a cross border AML investigation. Eleanor has considerable experience as a sole advocate in the commercial and criminal courts as well as acting as part of a broader counsel team.

Fountain Court Chambers includes a small team instructed for the defence in agenda-setting SFO cases. Richard Lissack QC, Robin Barclay and Eleanor Davison represented Barclays against allegations the bank financed a Qatari entity’s acquisition of its shares during the 2008 crash, averting a state bailout; the charges were dismissed.
