Stephen is a highly experienced criminal barrister, particularly renowned for his fraud and regulatory work.

He specialises in paper heavy cases of complex fraud including sensitive issues of disclosure, legal professional privilege and public interest immunity often international in scope. Stephen has been allocated the highest rank by the Crown Prosecution Service (Grade 4) for several years and is included on their specialist rape and serious sexual offending panel.

Stephen is regularly instructed in large regulatory offending by both individuals and companies, notably defending multi-billion pound corporate clients in relation to Health and Safety, Environmental and Trading Standards prosecutions ranging in seriousness from technical weights and measures offences, to breaches of Health and Safety regulations resulting in death. Stephen is experienced in the defence of Environmental Agency prosecutions including Waste Disposal, Water Pollution, cases involving the Waste Directive, Waste Management Licence Regulations and Re-cycling and re-using materials.

He was appointed to the General Medical Council’s Panel of Advocates in 2014 and is regularly instructed to appear in Fitness to Practise hearings.
