Ian is a very experienced criminal practitioner who handles heavy and complex cases across the full criminal spectrum, often leading second juniors in both prosecution and defence trials. He is regularly briefed in cases involving drugs, violence, murder, manslaughter, serious sexual offences and serious fraud. Ian is regularly briefed in the Court of Appeal.

Ian brings his experience as a former solicitor to his work. He originally qualified as a solicitor in 1979 and worked for several different firms before becoming an equity partner for eight years.

Ian’s experience handling serious criminal cases has led to an increased volume of work involving mental health issues in the Court of Protection, and has led to a part time appointment to the Mental Health Review Panel.
