‘Calm, confident and persuasive in court’. Legal 500, 2015 : Commercial Banking & Insolvency
Brad specialises in chancery and commercial, with a particular emphasis on litigation and arbitration. His focus is on running cases to trial (settling along the way if appropriate) and advocacy. He is described in the Legal 500 as a confident and persuasive advocate.
Although Brad has a broad commercial litigation practice, a significant part of it is insolvency, both personal and corporate. He acts for insolvency practitioners, debtors and creditors. He frequently appears in the applications lists and has experience of a wide range of contentious insolvency matters.
Another area where Brad has substantial experience is professional negligence, particularly claims against solicitors and barristers. He acts for claimants and defendants, as well as defendant insurers. In 2011, he successfully concluded a three week High Court action representing a firm of solicitors against a former salaried partner in the firm, where his client obtained 36 findings of breach of duty against the ex employee and won damages to represent profits lost to the firm by reason of the former employee’s negligence.
In addition to frequently appearing in the Chancery and Queen’s Bench Divisions of the High Court, Brad has appeared in the Court of Appeal on a number of occasions.
He is a member of the Attorney General’s regional panel and has acted in matters relating to VAT, Customs and Excise duties and directors’ disqualifications.
