Stuart has a broad commercial practice in line with Chambers’ profile. He has particular interests in arbitration, civil fraud, shipping, insurance, finance and energy. He graduated with a first class degree in law from the University of Cambridge, ranked second in his final year, followed by a BCL (Distinction) from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Essex Court Chambers, Stuart worked as a research assistant for Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury and for the Secured Transactions Law Reform Project, and has taught law at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge. Key areas of expertise include: international commercial arbitration; commercial dispute resolution; civil fraud and asset tracing; banking and financial services; insurance and reinsurance; shipping; international trade and commodities; conflicts of laws and private international law; energy and natural resources; and sports law.
