Jonathan has a broad practice encompassing the range of Chambers’ work with a particular focus on police law, public / administrative law, employment law, inquests and public inquires.


Jonathan’s clients include police forces, public bodies and coroners. Recent high profile cases include the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, the Tunisia Inquests and the Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse.

Jonathan acts on behalf of constabularies across the country in cases touching upon all areas of police law. He has considerable experience in advising chief officers on policy and operational matters, particularly in sensitive matters involving national security and other high-profile cases. Notable cases include: the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Service); the Inquests into the deaths arising from the Hillsborough Stadium disaster (on behalf of the St John Ambulance) the Anthony Grainger Inquiry (on behalf of the National Crime Agency); R (Officer W80) v Director General of the Independent Office for Police Conduct [2019] EWHC 2215 (Admin); and the Police Overtime Claims Litigation. 

Jonathan is a member of the Attorney General’s B Panel of Counsel.
