Patrick specialises in commercial fraud, corporate law, insolvency and arbitrations involving corporate law issues.
Patrick’s cases often involve an international element and applications for pre-emptive and interlocutory relief including freezing orders, Norwich Pharmacal orders and other interim injunctions. Patrick has been involved in many the largest civil fraud claims in recent years including the SKAT litigation, a £1.5 billion claim based on an alleged scheme to defraud the Danish tax authority, the Pugachev litigation, involving £1.17 billion freezing orders, search orders, passport orders and committal applications and the $2 billion LIA v Societe Generale litigation, involving allegations of bribery and undue influence.
Patrick also has extensive insolvency and corporate law experience, including in the recent Tonstate Group litigation and numerous unfair prejudice petitions.
Patrick has also recently acted on a number of arbitrations, including acting for BAE opposing the challenge of an arbitral award and on a stay application under s. 9 of the Arbitration Act 1996.
Patrick regularly appears in the Chancery Division, Commercial Court and Court of Appeal, both as a sole advocate and with a leader. He also has significant experience as a trial advocate, including in fraud actions.
