Position

Henrietta Hill QC specialises in inquests, discrimination law, claims against the police and related public law work.  She has many years' experience representing the families of those who have died at the hands of state agents, in custody, or in other suspicious circumstances. She has appeared in several of the most high-profile inquests in recent years including those into the deaths of Jean Charles de Menezes, Diana, Princess of Wales/Dodi Al Fayed and Alexander Litvinenko, and those who died in the Hillsborough stadium disaster.  Henrietta has particular expertise in bringing discrimination claims against employers, the police, prisons and other public authorities and service providers.   Henrietta’s public law work arises out of her main practice areas and includes challenges to the decisions of coroners, the Crown Prosecution Service and those involved in the police complaint process. Henrietta is also very experienced in mediations and round table settlements, and regularly writes and lectures in her specialist areas. She previously worked for the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York on racial profiling and post-9/11 discrimination cases.  In 2016 she and the other Hillsborough families’ lawyers received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards.
