Elsewhere, Graham Eklund QC appeared in Spire Healthcare v RSA which upheld a judgment in favour of insurers on whether numerous claims arising from the misconduct of a consultant breast surgeon fell to be aggregated under a policy of liability insurance. Neil Hext QC successfully acted for the defendant insurance broker in the Court of Appeal in Channon v Ward.

A 'very strong set' with 'strength in depth', 4 New Square has developed a notable product liability practice, predominantly on the defence side. In recent work worthy of note, Matthew Bradley was instructed to defend various claims against consultant surgeons in the combination hip prosthesis litigation, and Graham Eklund QC was instructed to defend a crane hire company in Wind Management Limited v Weldex International (Offshore) Limited and Alstom Power Ltd, and Eklund acted for Weldex, a case concerning a crane which failed and toppled over, causing loss and damage of £5m.
