Wide-ranging practice with particular experience and expertise in the following areas: (i) construction and engineering (ii) commercial litigation (iii) professional liability and (iv) sport. Rick also specialises in all fields of professional liability, with particular emphasis upon barristers and solicitors, construction professionals, valuers and surveyors, accountants and auditors, IFAs and insurance brokers. Rick has been involved in numerous high-profile cases, including Aspect v Higgins (first ever case on construction adjudication to reach the Supreme Court), Co-op v Birse (CA, 2014), Mengiste v Endowment Fund (CA, 2013) and The Innovator Litigation (substantial multi-party Commercial Court litigation). He has also a busy sports practice with his cases spanning the following sports: athletics, basketball, boxing, eventing, football, horseracing, ice hockey, rowing, rugby union, and shooting. He has appeared in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and has particular expertise in case involving doping issues.
