CPS grade four prosecutor on London, South East, and Midland Circuits. Approved prosecutor for rape offences. Extensive experience in all aspects of criminal law, especially sexual offences and matters concerning firearms. Prosecuted and defended a wide variety of cases including: attempted murder, kidnapping, and drug offences, fraud, all types of arson, public order, offences of serious violence and racially aggravated cases. Experience of proceeds of crime and confiscation matters. Appeared as a leading junior for the Crown in a number of cases and junior counsel for either the Crown or defence in cases of murder, manslaughter and serious sexual offences. He is on the CPS list of specialist rape counsel. Peter is an external advocacy assessor for the CPS. A large part of Peter’s practice involves defending military personnel at Courts Martial, both in the United Kingdom and abroad. Peter has been a Royal Naval pupil supervisor for several years. Peter has extensive practical knowledge of and experience with firearms and specialist expertise in firearms law. He advises on and appears in firearms and shotgun licensing appeals throughout England and Wales including refusals and revocations of both firearms and shotgun certificates. Frequently instructed in criminal cases that involve the use of firearms. He is a council member of the British Association of Shooting and Conservation. He is chairman of BASC’s Firearms Advisory Committee. Peter writes for The Shooting Gazette and other publications on matters concerning firearms law. Experience of inquests with a jury.
