Max Twivy joined Atkin Chambers in 2019 following the successful completion of his pupillage. Max is developing a broad practice covering all areas of Chambers’ core specialisms, including construction, engineering and infrastructure, energy and utilities, and professional negligence, as well as general commercial disputes. During pupillage and after accepting tenancy, Max has experienced a broad range of construction and general commercial work at all stages of litigation, adjudication and arbitration, and worked with a variety of bespoke and standard form contracts including the FIDIC, JCT, NEC and ACE forms.

Max came to the Bar after graduating with a starred double first in History at the University of Cambridge. He ranked first in the country in two consecutive years at law school, on both the law conversion course and the Bar course. Max won first prize in the SCL Hudson Prize 2018, for his essay ‘The Prevention Principle After North Midland v Cyden Homes: Time for Change?’. His paper has been published in the International Construction Law Review.
