Position

Jonathan’s background is in physics.  His practice involves a wide range of technologies including mechanical devices, semiconductor technologies, electronics, telecommunications, computing and software.  He has comprehensive experience in the optoelectronic, automotive and aeronautical industries. Jonathan enjoys working closely with a range of different clients, from small inventors and SMEs to large multinationals. He provides a full range of services, including offering robust commercial advice on all aspects of patent protection.  He drafts patent applications and prosecutes them worldwide.  Jonathan is the partner responsible for new client enquiries, and he oversees Beck Greener’s new business IP initiative which offers free advice to individuals and businesses looking to understand and benefit from IP protection.

Career

Jonathan joined Beck Greener in 2009, having formerly worked in-house for Dyson. He qualified as a European patent attorney in 2008 and a chartered patent attorney in 2007. He is also a European design attorney. He contributes to the ‘CIPA Guide to the Patents Acts’, the standard reference text for UK patent attorneys. In addition, he provides a monthly update on UK patent case law for the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorney’s journal.
