Position

Ilya heads up an IT, medical devices and cleantech sector practice. He is named in the IAM Strategy 300 as one of the world’s leading IP Strategists and has been widely recognised for his commercial, client-focused and strategic approach.  He has spent time in California working directly with some of the leading clients he now represents, so is fully attuned to US style and practice.

Ilya is widely regarded as a real strategist with a strong commercial understanding. He enjoys giving hands-on strategic advice to his client base, who range from multinationals with substantial portfolios through to startups and growing companies or investors.

Ilya has recently had a string of successful opposition and appeal hearings, and several of these were cases he turned around after taking over part way through, a challenge he relished. Clients also value his sector knowledge and understanding, and he is often sought out for high level due diligence projects.

Ilya is a key part of the firms’ contentious practice and advises on exploitation and licensing, and on strategic and cost-effective commercial portfolio development. He is the author of numerous published articles on law and strategy.

Ilya is qualified by examination as a litigator and has handled substantial high court litigation for a UK based multinational, as well as appearing in person in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court.
