Nick Bitel   – Armstrong Teasdale LLP

US firm Armstrong Teasdale moved into the UK market with the acquisition of Kerman & Co in February 2021. The firm’s London sports team provides an ‘excellent blend of commercial awareness and in-depth sports sector knowledge’. A key point of differentiation for the practice is its expertise in ticketing affairs which has seen it drawn in by governing and event bodies to oversee development on legislation targeting ticket touting. Zane Shihab, known for his ‘quick, clear and useful advice’, fronts the department and is also reputed within the market for his sponsorship, broadcasting, image rights and venue agreement expertise. James Thorndyke is the key name for contentious matters, particularly regulatory and disciplinary issues, and is ‘tireless in getting the right results’. Nick Bitel, the chief executive of the London Marathon and former chair of Sport England, serves as a consultant to the firm.
