A large proportion of Lucy’s practice is in European Patent Office oppositions, acting for clients in defence of their own patents and in opposition to those of their competitors. In over 27 years as a patent attorney, she has represented her clients in many European patent oppositions, handling over 400 opposition and appeal hearings in the process. She is trusted by multinationals such as Procter & Gamble and Rockwool International to handle their high-value contentious cases at the European Patent Office.

Lucy’s clients benefit from her thorough, precise and measured approach to opposition proceedings.  With her extensive knowledge of opposition and appeal proceedings, Lucy is also well-placed to handle drafting and prosecution of those key applications that are likely to be opposed after grant due to their commercial value. Her work covers inventions ranging over the chemical, FMCG and chemical engineering areas. In particular she has worked in the field of detergents and their components including surfactants, enzymes, dyes and colorants, soluble polymers, household fragrance products, polymeric films and fibres, absorbent articles and materials, food and drink products, personal care products including skin and hair care products, therapeutic skin treatment products, pharmaceutical formulations; man-made vitreous fibre products such as insulation products and industrial horticultural growth media.

Lucy is a member of AIPLA and FICPI and has acted as an examiner for the UK patent final exams.  She is frequently recommended in the MIP, IAM 1000 and Legal 500 directories.
