Alasdair handles a wide variety of trade mark related matters across a large number of industry sectors but has particular experience in pharmaceuticals (for human and animal use), entertainment, toys and games, high security printing and fashion. Although Alasdair handles all aspects of trade mark work, he spends most time on contentious matters such as enforcement and counterfeiting issues, oppositions and cancellation actions as well as strategic trade mark advice.
Clients have described him as “personable’, ‘incredibly experienced’ and that he ‘tailors his service to each client’, being “an absolute pleasure to deal with, because he is unfailingly calm and there is no posturing”.
Work Alasdair has handled includes one of the leading cases in the UK on non-use revocation and an EU cancellation action which, very unusually, involved the attendance at the EUIPO in Alicante for a hearing on specific issues of the case, only the second hearing to be held at the EUIPO since its formation. He continues to handle work for household name clients in the pharma, entertainment and games fields, including the transfer of IP in over 130 countries following the $115 million acquisition of worldwide rights to a product.
